why is this important?
Just taking the time to consider and research brands that are more sustainable and ethical will grow the industry. You will likely see that there are ready-made alternatives for a lot of the items you are looking to buy.
As people choose to buy with this ethos the entire industry will be encouraged to reconsider and change their practices.
How do i know if a brand is sustainable and EthicAl?
Many brands go to great lengths to document the amazing work they do so there is plenty of information out there. But like anything else you might consider buying there is a level of due diligence that is up to you, and you should always do your own research.
should i just stop buying nEW clothes?
We definitely need to be making and buying fewer clothes. Reduce, reuse, recycle is a term you may hear and it is something that you should encourage of yourself. Buy less and reduce/reuse/repair/donate old clothing wherever possible.
But buying new clothing doesn't have to be taboo. You can support a better future for everyone by buying sustainably and ethically when you need to.
